Job Title: Lead Maintenance Technicians
Place of Work: Biggin Hill Airport

Job Purpose: Carry out aircraft maintenance in support of, and as instructed by the certifying staff. The role is one of responsibility and reliance, due to the reduced level of supervision and therefore demands the highest levels of reliability and confidence.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Reports directly to the Certifying Staff
- Has at least 3 years of aircraft maintenance experience
- Must be able to demonstrate a consistent, high level of performance and reliability
- Is able to work autonomously and without direct supervision
- Can lead other mechanics on specific tasks delegated by the certifying staff
- Carries out tasks as instructed and requested
- Works with the maintenance team cohesively to ensure safe and efficient progression of aircraft in maintenance
- Must be able to work flexibly to support the peaks and troughs of aircraft maintenance activity
- Reports all work carried out and updates Certifying Staff, Hangar Manager or delegated engineer with progress.
- Will have excellent time keeping discipline
- Understands Human Factors and is knowledgeable of basic H & S working practices
- Supports continuous improvement investigations and root cause analysis investigations as requested to reduce quality escapes and COPQ
- Delivers strategic projects as defined by the Hangar Manager
- Carries out any reasonable request by the Hangar Manager
Qualities & Knowledge:
- Ability to provide strong drive and motivation
- Solid problem-solving ability and organisational skills
- Flexible and able to work to varying demands and workloads
- Excellent communication and literacy skills
- Understanding of continuous improvement philosophies
- Understanding of EH&S practices and policies
- Knowledge of human factors, human performance and limitations
- Knowledge of logistic processes
- Knowledge of relevant parts of the maintenance organisation exposition and procedures
- Knowledge of occurrence reporting systems (mandatory & internal) and understanding of the importance of reporting occurrences, incorrect maintenance data and existing or potential defects
- Knowledge of safety risks linked to the working environment
- Understanding of his/her own human performance limitations
- Teamwork, decision-making and leadership skills
- Ability to encourage a positive safety culture and apply a Just Culture
